Power transmission is given thanks to the NRG Air Carbon Reinforced sole with a rigidity index of 8.0 while the upper has the overlap construction, which reduces the aerodynamic resistance evenly binding the foot without any pressure point and helping to transfer every watt of power canceling the dispersion of energy.
The toe is reinforced in anti-abrasion and an easy and even closure system is guaranteed by the SLW2 dial, the only one with a step-by-step release, which allows a millimetric adjustment of the shoe in a quick and intuitive way.
The new Easyfit Climaflex collar combines the extreme flexibility of the Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane with the high thermal insulation of Neoprene, providing mobility and protection. The wrapping and the positioning of the heel are guaranteed by an anatomic seat and a solid thermoformed buttress and the Arctic 4Layer insole built-in Eva + Aluminum + Eva + Pile ensures excellent thermal insulation. For added safety, the 360° reflective inserts enable major visibility on the road.
I am getting promo emails. But no update on my order
These things are built for warmth without sacrificing performance like most winter "boots". They are still stiff and provide a snug fit. I consider them a winter "shoe" versus a true boot. My feet have always gone numb on cold rides (anything below 50 degrees). So I've had to survive with toe warmers and multiple layers of wrap and overshoes to endure outdoor riding in Michigan anytime other than June-August. NOT ANYMORE! My first ride in these were with a thin, breathable, summer sock on a 40 mile ride in the mid 40s and my feet were perfectly comfy the entire time. I'm confident they'll be great down to freezing temps. Below freezing temps might require a warmer sock and "maybe" an overshoe, but either way, I'm sooo impressed and no longer in fear of losing toes from frost bite.
The shoe has thus far been warm and kept the elements out. I haven’t ridden in the worst conditions possible for a complete test but so far so good. I was uncertain about the sizing but I followed the instructions and the shoe fits very well. I am glad I took the time to measure because my normal size would not have been correct.
Finally I can keep my feet warm after a while of trying to get away with just shoe covers. Makes a real difference on those subfreezing rides. Only complaint is that the toe box is a bit loose without an extra dial or strap to tighten the front of the shoe.
