These shoes are for the bravest riders who never give up and keep training, even with arctic temperatures. The membrane is made with Koala Gore-Tex® to combine excellent breathability with total water and wind resistance, providing comfort fitting in all weather conditions. The additional lining on the tip of the shoe ensures extensive thermal insulation.
Power transmission is provided by the Jaws Carbon Reinforced sole with an 8.0 stiffness index and a natural rubber tread heel for extreme grip on any surface.
The upper has the overlap construction, which wraps the foot without any pressure point, helping to transfer every watt of power, eliminating the dispersion of energy. Furthermore, the TPU reinforcements ensure a 360° strategic protection along the entire upper.
An easy and even closure system is guaranteed by the SLW3 dial, the only one with a step-by-step release, which allows a millimetric adjustment of the shoe in a fast and intuitive way. The new Easyfit collar combines the extreme flexibility of the Rattler® Gore-Tex membrane with the high thermal insulation of Neoprene, for more mobility and protection.
The wrapping and positioning of the heel is perfected by an anatomic seat and a solid thermoformed counter, in addition to the Arctic 4Layer insole made with Eva + Aluminum + Eva + Pile, which guarantees excellent thermal insulation. For safety, the 360° reflective inserts provide added visibility on the road.
Loved the boots and felt they were very high quality. Using the size guide and measuring my foot, it recommended I purchase a size 42. They were easily a half to full size too small. When I went to reorder a larger size, they were out of stock. So, unfortunately, I had to return them. Will definitely purchase them in a larger size if they are not discontinued.
Living in Northern New Jersey USA the weather from Mid December until early April can be challenging. I've always had issues with my Hands and Feet having suffered some frost bite during one CX season earlier in my race days. These boots have been the best solution I've found. Well made, easy on/off with one Boa cinch/release and quite comfortable. Sizing recommendations by Northwave are spot on!
Very warm. Haven't gotten them super wet yet but my feet have been toasty down to -3 C so far
Slightly annoying to take on and off but it does mean you get better coverage on the ankle which will probably help in the rain
Haven’t put a ton of miles on these yet. Winter hasn’t really come to Colorado yet. However, today was a cool 28F/-2C with cloudy to overcast skies so I took my Celsius XC for their first ride. The shoe easily handled the temperatures. Never felt too warm, and never got cold toes. Significant improvement over using my usual shoes with winter overboot.
As for the pedaling performance, the Celsius XC felt great. Plenty stiff, but still comfortable off the bike. The boa-style closure worked exactly as I’d expect. Favorite features for the shoe were the tall, gaiter-style closure around the ankle and the ample reflective accents.
First ride in the NW Artic shoes started at 32 degrees for the 1st hour. I dragged my foot through a stream crossing. Total ride 2.5 , hours, feet were warm, dry and comfortable.
